The Taieri Hockey Club was formed by the amalgamation of the individual Ladies and Mens clubs in 1990.

The Taieri Ladies Hockey Club was formed in 1913 around Easter time, when a meeting was called by two sisters, Maggie and Jean Collie, at their family shop on Gordon road in Mosgiel. 11 Ladies attended and a club was formed with a small plot of land being kindly donated for play by a Mr Kirk whose two daughters were part of that original 11.

They entered the OLHA competition the next year. Over the following few years the club grew as more and more of the local high school girls took up the game, and had it's first real success in 1917 winning the Ladies B Grade competition.

The Taieri Mens Hockey Club was formed in 1965, when the team entered two teams in it's first year. They won their first senior banner in 1971.
